CCBHC-E NTTAC and the ASAM Criteria 

CCBHC-E NTTAC has partnered with American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to provide a 5-part Learning and Action Series on the ASAM Criteria. The sessions are designed to explore and showcase the comprehensive set of guidelines for patient admission, continuing care and transfer/discharge for individuals with addictive, substance-related, and co-occurring conditions that can be applied in a CCBHC setting. 

To maximize the interaction and experience of participants, this opportunity will be limited to 85 participants. To get started, each participant must create an ASAM account, see below for detailed registration instructions.

ASAM Criteria Series Session 1: Setting the Stage: Using Multidimensional Assessment with the CCBHC Criteria

Wednesday, June 15, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET 

The first topic of the series will introduce and examine the six dimensions of multidimensional assessment of the Criteria used for service planning and treatment across all services and levels of a patient’s care.

ASAM Criteria Series Session 2: Using and Applying the ASAM Criteria Multidimensional Assessment with the CCBHC Criteria

Wednesday, June 29, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET 

This session focuses on case studies that highlight the ASAM six dimensions and treatment planning. These case studies will be carried out in a large group discussion for the first case study. Breakout rooms will be used for the second case study. 

ASAM Criteria Series Session 3: Treatment Planning and Service Planning

Wednesday, July 13, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET 

This session focuses on case studies that highlight treatment planning and level of care placement. These case studies will be carried out in breakout rooms for the first case study. A large group discussion will be used for the second case study. 

ASAM Criteria Series Session 4: Completing a Level of Care Placement

Wednesday, July 27, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET 

This session focuses on case studies that highlight level of care placement and systemic issues. These case studies will be carried out in a large group discussion for the first case study. Small breakout groups will be used for the second case study. 

ASAM Criteria Series Session 5: Case Studies, Pulling Everything Together, Close

Tuesday, August 16, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET

This session focuses on multiple case studies that put together all the concepts learned from Sessions 1-4. These case studies will be demonstrated in quick succession, in a round robin format. You will review the course objectives and participate in a question and answer section at the conclusion of the training.

Detailed Registration Instructions: 

Part 1: Create an ASAM Account: 

  1. Click on the following link: www.asam.org
  2. On the top right part of the screen, click on “Login”
  3. Underneath the spaces where you would put your login information, you will need to create an account by clicking, “Create Account” (If you don’t already have an account) 
  4. There will be a variety of different information you need to fill out during the account creation. 
  5. After you create your account, you will need to return to these steps to register for the training.

Part 2: Register for the Sessions

  1. Choose the Session or Sessions you would like to register for:
    1. If you are looking to register for all 5 sessions at one time, click on the link below
    1. If you are looking to register for individual sessions, you will need to click on and register for each of the links below: 
  1. Click on the green, “Register” button.
  2. Click on the blue button, “Complete Registration Now”.
  3. There will be some questions you need to fill out to finish the registration process
  4. You will receive an automated message to the email you used to create the account confirming your registration. 
  5. The course will live in your eLearning Center dashboard. If the contents are not showing up, chances are you are not in google chrome and will need to open the course back up on google chrome.
