U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., received the 2014 Allies in Action Award from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention last week.
The honor was for introducing the Mental Health First Aid Act, which is aimed at improving recognition of early signs of mental health problems and getting them community help.
