Apply for a Training

Thank you for your interest in applying to attend a Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification Training. Please look for your application type below and review the instructions before submitting your application.*


NEW APPLICANTS

Interested in applying to become a new Mental Health First Aid instructor? Follow the steps below.

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

Download and complete the below documents prior to beginning the online application. You will need to upload your digital signature and add it to each document before submitting. PLEASE NOTE that you must complete and submit all three documents in order for your application to be reviewed.

  1. Instructor Application Form
  2. Instructor Candidate Commitment Form
  3. Instructor Application Reference Form

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION

After completing the application,  email the completed documents to MHFAapplications@thenationalcouncil.org.

 STEP 3: CONFIRM YOUR REGISTRATION

Within a few minutes of submitting your completed application, you should receive an automated email confirmation. Please be sure to check your spam filters if you do not receive the confirmation email. Applications are reviewed and processed on a rolling basis.  Please allow 7-10 business days for processing your application; you will be notified within that time of your applicant status.

*If you are a resident of Missouri, please visit our state partners’ websites to apply for their instructor trainings, which are only open to in-state residents.


EXISTING INSTRUCTORS

Current full-status Mental Health First Aid instructors who are seeking a second certification should follow the steps for a shortened version of the application outlined in the application form below. Existing instructors DO NOT need to complete the Instructor Candidate Commitment Form or the Instructor Application Reference Form. We recommend that you allow 15-30 minutes to fully complete this application.

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION

Within a few minutes of submitting your completed application, you should receive an automated email confirmation. PROJECT AWARE APPLICANTS

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

*Project AWARE is a SAMHSA-funded grant program.

Please note that while we will receive your submission, applications for Project AWARE trainings are reviewed by the contact person of your desired training. You will be contacted by them directly when your application is processed.
