Do You Know First Aid To Help Someone Experiencing A Panic Attack?

As new parents, we prepare for the worst in terms of our babies’ health and safety. Before we even give birth, many of us spend a Saturday learning Infant and Child First Aid and CPR. We have first aid books and first aid kits and ipecac syrup and buy everything available at Babies “R” Us that has the word “safety” on the package.

We would know exactly what to do if a child was choking or bleeding or broke an arm.

But despite the fact that one in five Americans experience some form of mental illness, just about none of us would know what to do if we encountered a person having a panic attack or was having suicidal thoughts or was suffering from postpartum depression. Would you?
